The Idea

On WeView we aim to get people from all over the world to share photographs of the view outside their bedroom window. Why the restriction to the bedroom window? Simply to make sure you aren’t being sneaky! You might want to take a photograph of the view outside your living room window, because it is prettier. But on this site we want to see it all. People in big cities might see into a brick wall, where people from small towns might see great valleys and lakes. Wealthy individuals might have a penthouse view over a great city and the poorer might see into garbage bins in the back alley.

The idea with this site is to allow people to see places in the world that they would never normally see. This enables you to discover the ‘true’ world and not the consumer and tourist polluted version of it. Perhaps, together we will discover places that only few people have seen!

Sounds good, what now?

If you want to be part of the sharers here on WeView, simply fetch your camera, your mobile phone or anything that can produce a photo – quality doesn’t matter. When you have your image, go to the upload section of the menu. Here you will find an upload form, where you can enter your details. It is encouraged that you write a little about how you feel about your view or other thoughts about it. This gives people more information about yourself and your view – it might spark peoples’ interest to go travel!

Where do my images go?

All images that are received will be uploaded on Flickr, which has been incorporated in the map. If you click on an image on the map it will take you to the Flickr Photostream. There you can view all the photos, comment and pick favorites – this will also make it easier for us to pick the Photo of the Week. All uploads will take up to a day to appear on the map, because each one of them are handled and uploaded on Flickr personally. This ensures that spam is kept to a minimum and that the content uploaded is appropriate.
